Abstract
The water crisis in contemporary Iran is undoubtedly not just an environmental or technical challenge, but also a symbol of a crisis of governance and trust. An examination of the evolution of water governance in Iran after the revolution shows how various government policies, in interaction with social and economic conditions, have gradually led to an escalation of water scarcity and the emergence of widespread dissatisfaction. This note reviews the developments in the field of water governance in post-revolutionary Iran, analyzes the power dynamics between the state and society, and emphasizes the need to redefine the concepts of conflict and the real participation of stakeholders in water resources management.
